Thebe Rodney Medupe (born ) is a South African astrophysicist and founding director of Astronomy Africa.

Thebe Medupe is an astrophysicist and Full Professor in the Department of Physics at North West University (NWU).

Thebe Medupe grew up in a poor South African village near Mafikeng, about four hours north-west of Johannesburg.

The boy, Thebe Medupe, is now a professor in astronomy and astrophysics at North West University’s Mafikeng-campus.
